What is normal?

Is this normal? Yes, rest assured everything below is definitely normal.

This is a short and sweet message for every mom who needs a reminder that there is no medal waiting at the end of the line for attempting to be a Supermom.

If you mistakenly thought there was a prize please consider these words to be a gift – the gift of releasing the weight off your shoulders.

HERE’S THE TRUTH:

It’s totally normal to feel like you are sometimes failing as a parent.

It’s totally normal to feel overwhelmed.

It’s totally normal to want the occasional escape or break.

It’s totally normal to worry about your children’s future.

It’s totally normal to wish you could hold them in your arms forever.

It’s totally normal to cry when something you love slips away.

It’s totally normal to want to be happy.

It’s totally normal to not know what exactly makes you happy.

It’s totally normal to be annoyed at people who treat you bad.

It’s totally normal to slip up and say things you don’t mean.

It’s totally normal to lose sight of who you really are.

It’s totally normal to want to reclaim that sense of self and purpose.

It’s totally normal to love your children so much it hurts.

It’s totally normal to feel annoyed and pissed off at them at times.

It’s totally normal to fear death.

It’s totally normal to want to freeze every beautiful moment in time.

It’s totally normal to feel crushed when you say goodbye.

It’s totally normal to wish things were “perfect”.

It’s totally normal to constantly fall short of that perfection.

It’s totally normal to have bad days.

It’s totally normal to almost lose hope in the face of despair.

It’s totally normal to want to do your best.

It’s totally normal to fail miserably.

It’s totally normal to have flaws.

It’s totally normal to not recognize those flaws within yourself.

It’s totally normal to see flaws magnified in everyone else.

It’s totally normal to feel anger, disappointment, resentment and sadness.

It’s totally normal to wish for happiness, acceptance, peace and love.

It’s totally normal to be human and “real”.

It’s totally normal to make mistakes.

It’s totally normal to want amazing things in your life.

It’s totally normal to wake up and want to start over with a fresh slate.

It’s totally normal to not feel normal sometimes.

Trust me, you are not alone.

We are all in this same crazy parenting boat together. So throw a lifeline out to someone when you see that they need it.
