If you are looking for a comparison review of MailerLite vs MailChimp vs ConvertKit then you have come to the right place!

So in case you haven’t guessed, starting an email list is a must for any business or blogger!

Cultivating an email list (a.k.a. tribe of people who love and appreciate what you do) is one of the best and most effective ways of consistently sending traffic over to your website.

Why is this so?

Well, as they say EMAIL IS KING.

Sorry I know the caps lock and bold is irritating to see (what a combination!) but I need to do whatever I can to highlight the importance of this statement.

In short, email marketing is targeted, purposeful, and personal. It allows you to effectively build an engaged audience, sell or promote a product and build a real trust and rapport with your fans because it is an engaged, focused one-to-one interaction.

Many bloggers don’t understand the importance of building an email list right away until they witness the positive impact email lists can have on website traffic and subsequent earnings.

More importantly:

You own your email list!

These subscribers are the only real numbers that count!

When it comes to Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, or any other social media platform, your followers there don’t belong to you. They belong to someone else.

With the constantly changing algorithms (don’t you just love that word), we unfortunately can’t control which posts are shown to our followers (or if they are presented at all).

Some people also don’t check their social media accounts for days or weeks but guess what? Most people do check their emails daily.

In a nutshell, an email provides you with a direct link with your subscriber’s inbox. I see it as the modern day version of delivering a letter to a home mailbox. Pretty impressive, right?

With email, you get to control your interaction with your subscribers and it isn’t influenced by the whims and decisions of other businesses.

The best thing you can do to grow your blog and send more traffic to your website is to entice people to jump onto your email list.

Make this the underlying goal of all your blog posts and social media marketing. Offer valuable, exclusive content that people are happy to exchange their email addresses for.

For now, here are the three big email marketing automation tools you can use to start your email list.

The three most popular email marketing automation tools to consider are:

This is a great starting spot for beginners as it offers a free plan up to 2,000 subscribers and 12,000 emails per month.

Like most bloggers, I started with MailChimp, before I was ready to move onto more complex automation (with both MailerLite and ConvertKit).

All in all, it is a basic, easy to use starting point for anyone wanting an initial free plan option.

Beginners who are wanting to investigate email automation without committing to an expensive plan.

You can check out MailChimp here.

MailerLite is one step up from MailChimp and I have to say I personally love it!

The best thing is they offer users a free plan up to 1,000 subscribers and that includes all their fancy features, including automation. Fabulous!

It is also simple to use, offers many different templates and landing pages and is reasonably priced, making it perfect for those who are more budget- conscious but looking for a powerful package. I can see why many bloggers (including myself) would happily stay with Mailerlite forever.

Another fantastic (and ultimately superior option) for beginners who want the security of a free period before they start to accelerate their email list growth.

ADDED BONUS: You don’t need to be tech savvy to master this simply email automation tool!

When it comes to email marketing, Convert Kit is the cream of the crop but it does come with a price tag.

Their plans start from $29 per month for 1,000 subscribers but many highly successful bloggers and business owners insist it is worth every penny and great value for their money.

It does anything and everything that you need email automation to do and there are plenty of free YouTube videos to help you master this tool.

(Word of warning: you will definitely need to refer to these videos as this tool does more than you can possibly imagine.)

This is because Convert Kit has so many high end features including:

-Ease of use – it is seriously super easy to master even the most complex tasks within Convert Kit

-Email sequencing, scheduling and segmentation

-Landing page templates and open-rate tracking

-Ability to retarget subscribers who click links to increase conversions and leave the non-interested subscribers alone

-Setting up of different rules to automate processes and save time like drip email marketing

-Custom CSS and opt-in forms AND MORE

I honestly can’t fault Convert Kit at all, other than the starting price of $29 per month, which may seem a little scary to a newbie with zero subscribers (especially if you don’t know what any of the above-mentioned features even mean, which I admit, I didn’t know either until I tried it out myself – trust me, it was pretty easy to master).

If you are committed to growing your blog Convert Kit is definitely a worthwhile investment in your business.

More serious bloggers and businesses who are willing to put their money where their money is.

Even if you have 0 subscribers, you will be charged $29 per month but with this premium tool is worth the commitment and will ultimately pay itself off once your email subscriber numbers begin to grow.

In Summary:

-If you don’t already have an email list, start one today.

-Make building an email list the ultimate goal of all your social media marketing. Get your followers and fans to jump onto that list!

-Use Mailchimp, Mailerlite or ConvertKit to automate your emails to these subscribers.

-If you aren’t sure which provider to use, I recommend that you test each one out. Sign up for a trial and pick the one you love the most in the end.

My Personal Favorite Pick

After testing out all three email platforms, I personally opted to use MailerLite in the end because it had all the fantastic features of ConvertKit without the pricetag.

Imagine these three options – MailChimp, MailerLite and ConvertKit are a little like the three beds that Goldilocks faced when she entered the empty house of the three bears.

One bed wasn’t comfortable enough, one was too comfortable and the other one was JUST RIGHT. This is what MailerLite is like for me – the perfect happy medium, which is still used and preferred by many successful bloggers.

I have used this email automation platform for many months now to build my email list, without any worries or complications. And in the instance that I have ever had a question, I have simply messaged the help-desk which is manned by experienced, professional staff around the clock and had my concern has been both addressed and resolved within ten minutes.

All in all I can’t rave about MailerLite enough! Check them out today. I promise, you won’t be disappointed.
